A Sorcerer's Journey - Chapter 476
Chapter 476: Ancient Phaseless Demons
A deafening silence…
A dazzling red light beamed across the sky. There was a warm gust of wind blowing at first, fluttering the hair and robes of the five sorcerers, who were standing in a line.
Immediately, an ear-piercing screech followed. A storm that sucked up the Abyssal Moss tore through the plains. Even though they had the Sorcerer’s Barriers, the group still instinctively closed their eyes. They even shriveled for a moment.
The tempest lasted for more than ten seconds before calming down.
Finally, after the storm had weakened, there was a fire pillar thousands of meters long rising from deep within the First Acraepoid Kingdom in the Infernal Spirit World. The dust on top of it gradually turned into a mushroom cloud before merging with the Dark Abyssal Clouds. It was spreading in all directions.
“Here comes the shock from the plate shift!”
Grimm shouted as he flew away from the grounds. Solumn, Wicky, Millie, and Claudia too flew up to avoid the grounds after braving through the storm.
Rumble!
An earth-shattering wave harrowed through the ground. The moss-covered hardened ground was hit by the ripple, causing walls tens of meters in height to rise up from them. The ripples were spreading at an incredible speed.
At this moment, it seemed as if the five sorcerers’ hearts had been punched.
The hardened soil was broken up by the ripple and turned into soft soil almost instantly. The Abyssal Moss on the surface had been mixed into the grounds.
Some of the Abyssal Demons, plants, and low-flying insects had been abruptly swallowed by the sudden earthquake.
In the skies, millions of Abyssal Demons were blown apart into tatters.
After all, they were Abyssal Demons summoned by Grimm at the last moment and not the elite soul slaves that had fought alongside the sorcerer legions for a long time. Although they had the numbers, they could not be compared to a real soul slave legion.
Rumble…
The sound from the explosion created by the Stigmata Sorcerers at the mainland had finally traveled to their ears.
Grimm looked around to find only tens of thousands of Abyssal Demons that had remained. Like a Demon King who was unsatisfied with his minions, Grimm channeled the Sorcerer’s Will again after letting out a howl!
As Grimm was channeling the Sorcerer’s Will, the Abyssal Demons in the sky that were dazed gathered around Grimm once again.
On the grounds, creatures began to emerge from the soft soil that had been plowed by the quake. Life began to crawl back up from the earth, be it mutated creatures or abyssal plants and insects. They started crawling toward Grimm without any sentient thoughts.
One by one, these ferocious, hideous Abyssal Demons were like hellish devils from the legends.
Beneath the Mask of Truth, Grimm’s pair of eyes were shimmering with elemental lights. They were looking for his prey. Suddenly, Grimm had a discovery.
The eye sockets of his Sabbatic Goat Staff were burning in dark flames. Grimm waved his staff to the left.
Flap! Flap! Flap…
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss…
The Abyssal Demons were agile. Some of them flew, some of them ran. Some of them were even dragging their own dismembered limbs as they charged toward him at Grimm’s will.
“Get used to these Abyssal Demons. They are the real enemy of the Sorcerers.”
After speaking to the four Sorcerers behind him, he flew ahead with Little Myna perched on his shoulder. Around him, tens of thousands of Abyssal Demons of every kind surrounded him like a cyclone. The flaps of their wings created a loud noise.
Most of the Abyssal Demons were covered in tumorous bumps. They looked revolting, yet they had incredible vitality.
“How did you do it?”
Wicky, who was stout like a mountain, was all tensed up. He clenched his fist tightly. His expression was stern. He stared at Grimm from behind and asked in disbelief.
To summon this many Abyssal Demons, he was too powerful!
Was this really the power of a Level-1 Sorcerer?
Wicky’s question was shared by Solumn, Millie, and Claudia, whose eyes were burning with curiosity. If they had the same power, they would be above any creature below the level of a World Lord in the abyss-tainted world.
Little Myna suddenly turned back and looked at Wicky.
Somehow, Wicky could sense that the little guy was laughing at him.
“Surprised by this power, are you? Hehe, every ordinary Ancient Phaseless Demon possesses such power! Now, can you feel the despair of the Ancient Sorcerers when they faced off with the Abyssal World?”
Wicky, Solumn, Millie, and Claudia were in shock. Their jaws dropped as if they had things to say. Yet, they could not say anything.
Was Grimm a direct copy of the Abyssal Ancient Phaseless Demon at this moment?
Little Myna shrugged, as if he was actually teasing them. He turned his head back again and looked alongside Grimm at the Acraepoids that were falling from the skies.
“Caw caw caw, that was a lie.”
Huh?
Wicky, Solumn, Millie, and Claudia let out a sigh of relief.
After regaining her cool, Claudia smiled bewitchingly at Little Myna. With a seductive voice, she smilingly said,” Oh, great myna, there you are teasing us again. Tee-hee, if you do it again next time…”
In Grimm’s decade-long absence, Claudia had befriended Little Myna.
Still, Little Myna did not turn his head. It sighed. “Yeah, there’s no way those Ancient Phaseless Demons are so weak. These so-called Abyssal Demons are merely food for the Abyssal Dragons… the Ancient Phaseless Demons could summon dragons that were mounts of the Anatomy Refinery Dragoons!”
Claudia’s words came to a halt. Her bewitching face became blank for a moment.
“Mavrica Nevichy, are you really a creature that has survived since the ancient times?”
Millie was filled with disbelief. She continued, “Those creatures from the Abyssal World that the Sorcerers met, are they really that strong?”
The myna quietly nodded his head. He was not laughing anymore.
“Yes, absolutely strong, unbelievably strong! But the hierarchy of their strengths was completely different from the Sorcerers World. Their low-leveled Ancient Phaseless Demons were incredibly strong, but their high-leveled demons were slightly weaker than the Sorcerers World when it was still at its former glory.”
The weakest link in the Sorcerers World were ordinary human beings.
The weak humans could not survive in any harsh conditions. They could only live in a greenhouse that was built by the Sorcerers.
But losing the ordinary human beings would mean losing the source of the Sorcerers. Losing the Sorcerers would mean losing the Mana Pool of the Sorcerer Towers.
Losing the Mana Pool of the Sorcerer Towers would mean a drastic reduction in the number of Stigmata Sorcerers, which further meant that their control of the world clusters would be dramatically reduced, their resources dwindled, and then there’s the necromancer…
The millions of Abyssal Demons swamped the thousands of Acraepoids in the sky which were scattered about. In the despair of the Acraepoids, Grimm commanded beneath his Mask of Truth. “Destroy them.”
