A Sorcerer's Journey - Chapter 425
Chapter 425: War of the Dark Destroyer Kingdom XV
“Argh…”
As if rejecting a foreign substance, Grimm’s sorcerer’s barrier came under the simultaneous barrage of two very different energies, the ice flames and the Darkness Pool. The protection offered by the book, Vulkshy’s Infernal Curse, had been lost.
Was it because he did not have the blood of an Acraepoid flowing in him, as well as the lack of infernal energy in him?
Grimm could sense that the Darkness Pool was trying to crush him since he did not possess the corresponding infernal energy. On the other hand, the ice flame was trying to seal him completely due to his foreign origins.
Grimm, now howling in pain, could only feel that he was being crushed by huge hands from all directions as if they were trying to roll him into a dough.
On the ancient throne on top of the altar in front of him, what sat on top of it within the sealed ice looked more like a towering mountain instead of an Acraepoid!
At this moment, the whole dark space that seemed to be in slumber was gradually waking up to Grimm’s arrival. Though the dark space had only used up a trivial amount of energy to compress Grimm, it was enough to push him to his limits.
The pressure exerting on Grimm was growing rapidly!
Bam!
The sorcerer’s barrier had been shattered. It was enough proof that the sorcerer’s barrier had taken damage beyond its threshold.
“Argh… Wild Instinct Level One, initiate!”
His skeletal frame was pulled longer, while his body became lean and wild. Tiny black scales emerged from his body as his body began to fill with explosive energy. It was as though each one of his cells had been awakened by a layer of ancient memory, glowing with the vitality of a primal predator.
Despite this, Grimm’s pain did not reduce. He gave out a low huff. His Mandala Robe was visibly disintegrating.
‘Leave here, and abandon a huge opportunity?’
Above the eyes of Grimm’s Mask of Truth, on his dark coriums, his sorcerer’s robe, and even underneath his demon-hunting gears, layers of ice began to emerge. It was the prelude to being completely sealed in ice. Even his own consciousness was about to be frozen.
Yet, compared to the frost seal of the azure ice flame, the crushing Darkness Pool was even more powerful. Grimm naturally curled up into a fetal position after being crushed by the tremendous force.
All of the Darkness Pool came from the Acraepoid’s body at the altar that was sealed in ice in front of Grimm.
Grimm could already guess that this was the body of a fallen World Lord of the Infernal Spirit World—the Infernal God Vulkshy.
If the young Acraepoid had been here, he would have really stumbled upon a huge opportunity to develop his potential without limits.
But now, at this moment…
Grimm could not give up. This was the relic of a World Lord after all!
With a deep moan, Grimm’s body began to expand gradually. A layer of pale-white bone mail and spikes began to appear from the thinning Mandala Robe. He looked absolutely hideous. His energy level was like a wild tempest.
“Wild Instinct Level Two, initiate!”
Bzzt! An invisible gush of air started to spread from his body into all directions. Grimm turned into a three-meter tall boney creature as his frame began to expand slowly. He seemed to be able to resist the pressure from the Darkness Pool as well as not being completely frozen.
Huh?
No!
He could resist the crushing pressure of the Darkness Pool not because he had become stronger! The pressure from the Darkness Pool began to dissipate, or more accurately, it became docile!
Grimm was still in shock after initiating his level two Wild Instinct spell. The power he held was beyond the control of his body. Therefore, he still could not figure out what had taken place.
The boney creature tried twisting his neck. A huge piece of ice began to shatter before becoming frozen again. He turned back and looked at his bone spikes that were over twenty centimeters long.
So that was what it was!
Underneath the Mask of Truth, Grimm’s pair of eyes squinted as if he had understood something.
It was the aura of the Darkborne Infernal God that was caught up in the bone spikes that had caused a reaction with the Darkness Pool. The aura of Darkborne, it seemed, had an inner working of infernal energy to it.
To soldier on?
Or to give up now?
Grimm and Little Myna’s spacetime coordinated access powers could be used to escape from any sealing spell as long as they had not been sealed off at the same time and also if their difference in level was not that wide.
Although the scale of this ice seal was huge, it was not controlled by a sentient consciousness. Therefore, it would be easy for Grimm to escape from it.
The only condition is that Grimm must remain conscious to perform the spell.
But once Grimm had been completely sealed by the ice, with his consciousness included, he would black out and be unable to perform his spell.
Layers of azure-colored ice crystal began covering Grimm’s body again. He let out a sigh as he was about to escape the ice seal with the spacetime coordinated access talent that he shared together with Little Myna when suddenly, he felt something that was strangely familiar within the Darkness Pool.
This…
Grimm learned that the massive Darkness Pool no longer tried to crush him like before. Instead, it became very friendly towards him. He felt that all he needed was a catalyst before he could experience the true power of this mysterious natural law.
In the cultivation journal, Vulkshy’s Infernal Curse, that was penned by Vulkshy himself, it was mentioned that those who practiced in accordance with the manual to become a World Lord would have a chance of communicating with the mysterious energy.
The mysterious energy that the Infernal God Vulkshy had once communicated with was obviously the natural law of the Darkness Pool!
After Infernal God Vulkshy had fallen, his body was transported back to what was once the Capital of Vulkshy Kingdom, now located within the ancient sealing formation underneath the Dark Destroyer Kingdom. The mysterious Darkness Pool energy that he once wielded had now become a part of the natural law in the underground cavern of this Infernal Spirit World.
Now that Grimm had the key to unlocking this mysterious Vulkshy’s Infernal Curse, all he needed was that catalyst!
The catalyst was obviously the infernal energy. It was the crystal core that remained in the Acraepoids after they had perished!
Grimm’s pair of eyes were flickering underneath the Mask of Truth. He was analyzing his surroundings at blazing speed.
If he had put on an all-out resistance, it would take at most three minutes before he became completely frozen. To conjure up an infernal energy crystal core using Darkborne’s aura from his Level-Two Wild Instinct in three minutes?
“The mission’s impossi…ble…huh? Hang on!”
Beneath the Mask of Truth, Grimm’s pair of eyes lit up with surprise. He had thought of another possibility, the Savage Flame Giant!
The Savage Flame Giant was once created using the Dark Destroyer Infernal God’s blood as a catalyst. Its dark flames were similar to Darkborne’s aura from Grimm’s Level-Two Wild Instinct. It too used an inner working of the infernal energy. Grimm once named it the Greedy Flame.
At the same time, another one of the Savage Flame Giant’s catalysts was the ancient Lava Giant’s crystal core found in the Shadow World!
The infernal energy was a combination of flame and soul that occured as the concoction devoured more souls. It was also developed through some of the Acraepoids’ own realizations.
If he could perfectly meld the Savage Flame Giant’s black and gold flames together into the crystal core, would it not be the crystal core that had the sweet scent of death that represented the infernal energy, found within all Acraepoids?
