A Sorcerer's Journey - Chapter 417
Chapter 417: War of the Dark Destroyer Kingdom VII
Boom! Boom! Boom…
Growling sounds could be constantly heard in the Flame Burrow of the Dark Destroyer Kingdom, most of them were from the bigwigs that had never ever in their lives practiced Infernal Energy.
Acraepoid Warriors and Commanders were being summoned by the Great Infernal God, they flew across the sky to go against the army of sorcerers that came from the foreign world.
The distinctive husky screaming voices of the Acraepoids were heard everywhere.
The male Acraepoids had bigger body sizes and were about one hundred and sixty meters tall, however, most of them had big bellies and their wings seemed to be soft and weak; none of them were useful in battle and they were incomparable even with normal human beings from the Sorcerers World.
Female Acraepoids wore gemstone accessories all over their bodies to represent flame. Some of the accessories even weighed more than their own bodies and even a slight movement could cause jingling sounds that were easily heard by the Demon-Hunters.
The junior Acraepoids were only seen as insignificant attachments by the Demon-Hunters.
From this, it could be seen that such a community would always exist in the society of human beings.
The younger generations would always neglect the intrinsic value of the positions that they have inherited from the older generations, and would take advantage of their social status and overindulge in the enormous amount of wealth that had been accumulated by the older generations. This resulted in the creation of fallen aristocrats who were deemed parasites of the society.
The surrounding nature force was being lifted by two shadows to flow towards themselves like strips of ribbons, which was then gathered around them as they slowly flew upwards from the middle level of the Flame Burrow via the central tunnel.
The towering Flame Burrow was structured to suit the Acraepoids who were naturally born with wings, therefore, there was a central tunnel that passed through every level of the burrow instead of the usual staircase structure that was often found in the towers of human sorcerers.
The distinctive design had truly showcased the differences in the evolution of both races.
Under the Mask of Truth, Grimm’s eyes glanced through every level of the Flame Burrow as if he had entered into a maze, and while he held onto the Sabbatic Goat Staff that had flaming fire bats on top, there were Acraepoids spying on him from the dark corners around him. To them, he was an evil and terrifying sorcerer from the foreign world, and also a demon leader that would ruthlessly prey on anything that he could find.
The Demon-Hunter equipping the Mechanical Armor Core was following closely behind Grimm.
There were two metal plates that covered his chest as protective measures and they were glowing with pale-white light barriers, while his boots were constantly charged with Lightning Force to take on any immediate attacks that might occur in the next moment. He was also equipped with an additional pair of eyeglasses under his metal headgear with functions unknown to Grimm.
Snap…
“Hmm?”
Grimm felt a slight vibration and immediately set his sight towards the direction from where it came, and as a swoosh sound was heard, the Mechanical Armor Core equipped Dark Demon-Hunter blasted a pale-red energy light beam towards the same direction.
Boom!
The blast impacted a round and fiery red creature, which then exploded into small pieces.
Grimm turned around and said, “Identify your target before attacking, it was just a pet, how are we going to collect blood if you were to continue your attacks this way?”
After a few moments of inspecting the Demon-Hunter, Grimm hesitated and asked, “Newcomer?”
“Hmm.”
The Demon-Hunter nodded and seemed to be a little bit nervous as he looked at Grimm.
“Huh? Newcomer, well, you should just follow the instructions given by my master and me.”
Myna turned his head around and spoke arrogantly.
Grimm spoke in a deep voice, “How unlucky for a new Demon-Hunter to join such a massive expedition; however, every Demon-Hunter would have to go through such unavoidable psychological disparity. All you can do is to just follow the footsteps of the other Demon-Hunters and learn while observing, and you will be fine if you protect yourself as much as possible.”
When facing the new Demon-Hunter, Grimm was a senior although he had only experienced Demon-Hunting expeditions thrice.
Of course, from other sorcerers’ perspective, Grimm’s Rank-1 Honor Badge implied that this guy had already been around for thousands of years and been to countless Demon-Hunting expeditions.
After chastising the new Demon-Hunter, Grimm looked at the wall of the Flame Burrow that had been blasted by the attack from the new Demon-Hunter.
The attack was about two hundred degrees, however, the wall seemed to be extremely sturdy as it was only slightly damaged.
Grimm continued on with his calculation.
If the weak point of the Flame Burrow remained unidentified, such levels of attack would have to be repeated thousands of times in order to completely destroy the base structure of the Flame Burrow.
Boom!
Suddenly, a loud explosion was heard from the higher levels, and Grimm took the lead to command, “Go, there is still resistance energy left!”
With his orders, swooshing sounds were heard as Grimm and the Demon-Hunter blasted towards the direction, and as they looked at a room within the maze of the Flame Burrow, a Level-2 Acraepoid Commander was leading a few Acraepoid Warriors to protect aristocrats who were retreating.
The area outside the Flame Burrow was equally dangerous as it was surrounded by Demon-Hunters, however, the Acraepoids aristocrats had no choice but to take the risk.
“Go after the Acraepoids and bring their corpses back!”
After Grimm had given instructions to the Mechanical Armor Core equipped Demon-Hunter, he joined in on the battle with the other Demon-Hunters who were going against a few Acraepoids that were struggling to defend themselves and were on the verge of defeat.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…
A few Demon-Hunters flew out of the Flame Burrow as soon as they realized that they had won the battle, they then went after the bunch of fat Acraepoids that were flying slowly and brought their corpses back without much hassle.
“Master, look, an Acraepoid is escaping over there.”
Myna pointed towards the sky at another far end.
The Demon-Hunters around looked towards the direction calmly and were not surprised by the young Acraepoid that was in shock and trying its best to escape, all of the Demon-Hunters ignored the escaping young Acraepoid and continued to move the Acraepoid corpses using nature force.
Claudia was standing behind Grimm with her enchanting and revealing appearance, and as she turned around, she was greatly taken aback when she saw the escaping young Acraepoid.
“No! Kill him quickly!”
Claudia screamed in distress.
All of the Demon-Hunters, including Grimm, looked at Claudia, puzzled by her reaction. None of them reacted to her instruction.
“Huh? It is just a little guy, why are you…”
Myna was astonished but he was cut short.
Grimm was equally puzzled by Claudia’s reaction, however, he immediately reacted and gave his command based on the faith that he had towards Claudia’s wisdom, he shouted, “Kill him!”
Grimm took the lead and rushed out together with Claudia.
The other Demon-Hunters immediately released the corpses and followed them.
The scene of Demon-Hunters hunting down an insignificant young Acraepoid took place in an inconspicuous corner of the Dark Destroyer Kingdom which was enveloped in the flames of war.
As Grimm closed in on the target, he look at Claudia who was in a state of shock and started to speculate on the reason behind Claudia’s reaction.
Indeed, she had been behaving oddly.
If it was not because of Grimm’s command, the other Demon-Hunters might have even ignored her.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, an army of creatures from the Infernal Spirit World that was formed by hundreds of creatures flew in from a far away direction and noticed the presence of Grimm and the team of Demon-Hunters; immediately, they rushed towards Grimm’s direction in anger.
Although the number of Demon-Hunters was more than enough to go against the hundreds of slave creatures, but Grimm felt slightly troubled by the creatures as they would slow down their pace to further their pursuit of the escaping Acraepoid.
The escaping young Acraepoid with green wings was a thousand meters away, and he was constantly looking back at the Demon-Hunters that were following behind him with his eyes filled with fear and hatred.
Perhaps a moment earlier, he had witnessed the murder of his parents and close family members by the sorcerers and he could only cry in despair while covering his mouth to not make a sound.
The heart-breaking moment had changed him, he had to find his own way to escape while the Demon-Hunters were busy collecting the corpses of his own kind.
It was only the frivolous Myna who had the time to notice him and had brought the attention of the others to him.
It seemed that the few words from Myna had caused his fate to change.
Grimm said to Claudia in a deep voice, “You better have a good explanation for me later.”
After saying so, Grimm took a deep breath under his Mask of Truth and activated his sorcerer barrier; the strong wave of the Rank-1 Honor Badge expanded throughout the surroundings, and it seemed to be some sort of summoning.
It was at the same time, with Grimm as the centre point, every Demon-Hunter that had their honor badge with them seemed to have received some sort of stimulation, and they looked towards Grimm in bewilderment.
After a moment of thought, the Demon-Hunters disappeared into the shadows and flew towards the same direction that they had sensed the calling.
