A Sorcerer's Journey - Chapter 242
Chapter 242: The Shadow Calamity XIX
Two days later.
At the peak of the sacred fiery mountains, a cold, blood-colored metal void fortress with more than ten thousand meters in its span cast out a great shadow across the land, blocking the ray from the eternal sun that never sets.
Hundreds of thousands of Lava Giants that ranged from meters to tens of meters tall flew together to form a fiery group.
Huge bloodfalls lavawyverns that were hundreds of meters in size moved around in their oversized frames as they glared in front. There was a thick scent of demonic blood moss permeating from these unwelcomed guests that had trespassed the sacred fiery lands.
“The great people of the Lava Giant clan, we are sorcerers from the sorcerer world. We came into this world to spread the light from the fires of civilization.”
The Hearkening Whisperer, Tomb Segja, and Tomb Averer stood together in a line. Hundreds of thousands of Bright and Dark Sorcerers hovered in the sky menacingly.
The Jyurongshan did not appear.
Compared to the Lava Giants, other than a very few numbers of their massive soul slaves, the sorcerers looked pitifully small in their frames.
The head of the hundreds of thousands of Lava Giants was exactly fifty meters in height. Through the combination of the natural elemental soul, the fire wave that engulfed the tall giant was at a height of seventy to eighty meters, burning fiercely into its surroundings.
This was the leader of the remaining Lava Giants of the shadow world, the Lava Giant King.
The Lava Giant King’s fiery eyes were fixated upon the three Stigmata Sorcerers. There was some disbelief. The three kings of the world?
But at the peak of the sacred fiery mountains right now, the King of the Lava Giants, through the support of the natural elements, had the power of a rank four lifeform.
“To spread the light from the fires of civilization? Bah! The great clan of the Lava Giants has no need for the sorcerer’s will of civilization. What good could the sorcerer’s civilization possibly bring to the great clan of Lava Giants?”
The Lava Giant King let out a thunderous roar. Hundreds of thousands of Lava Giants behind it followed suit.
The Hearkening Whisperer spread out her mystical emerald wings and flew up. Her robes were wavering about. Her soul voice was mesmerizing and sounded utterly sincere.
“The sorcerer civilization is the only civilized world found within the countless worlds. In nearly three epochs, the sorcerer’s civilization had, directly and indirectly, dominated innumerable huge and small worlds. Heeding the will of the great sorcerer’s civilization is the only choice of the intelligent lifeforms in the worlds.”
The Hearkening Whisperer continued, “As for the benefits, the Lava Giant clan shall gain the support of the sorcerer civilization and return to this beautiful world as its rightful ruler. The Amonro World shall be known as the Fire Crystal World! From now onward, the Lava Giants need only to comply with the will of the great sorcerers to gain freedom of movement anywhere in the world. They no longer have to cloister themselves in this tiny land! They shall gain the dignity of life; they may now die in honor; the torch of history may now be passed among the great clan of the Lava Giants.”
The speech caused waves among the Lava Giants. Many of them were stunned as they looked on at the Hearkening Whisperer. They were talking among themselves.
To be restored as the world’s ruler was the eternal dream shared by the remnants of the Lava Giant clan. It gave meaning to the Lava Giants’ lifetime of struggle.
In these past years, the Lava Giants were forced to hide in their sacred land and could only delay the inevitable. They were attacked by the Amonros who were determined to exterminate them from their lair.
But the Lava Giants couldn’t even escape the seal of the enigmatic hurricane, not to mention reciprocating the Amonros’ assault.
All these years, for the sake of survival, and for their dreams, the Lava Giants had paid too high of a price.
“To comply with the will of the sorcerer? Did you mean to say that the great clan of the Lava Giants shall be restored to become ruler of this world after accepting the conditions of the sorcerer’s rule? We, the great clan of the Lava Giants, shall become slaves to the sorcerers?”
The Lava Giant King let out a thunderous and furious roar.
The Tomb Averer chipped in in a calm manner. “The basic law of the boundless worlds rest in balance. One must give to receive. You only need to comply with the will of the great sorcerer and the clan of the Lava Giants shall enjoy the prosper that it once held.”
Tomb Segja, in a flowery manner, further explained,” Also, there are rules within the sorcerer civilization itself…”
“Roar! Enough! The great clan of the Lava Giants will never yield to any parties. You invaders from a foreign world are to leave the sacred lands and this world at once before you face the wrath of all the Lava Giants! The great clan of the Lava Giants will never sell their own dignity!”
The king’s speech seemed to have ignited the emotions of the hundreds of thousands of Lava Giants behind him. They let out thunderous roars at the same time. Fire waves were spewing as if a battle was about to begin.
Facing this outcome, the Bright Sorcerers on the opposing side set up their arrays and formations while the Dark Sorcerers were quietly starting to charge their magical powers. The hatches under the void fortress opened. The void fortress was ready for a battle.
“Bog’thamir, you do not have the right to speak for the clan! Your decision is pushing the great clan of the Lava Giants into destruction!”
With the scorching fire wave on one side and the enigmatic shadows on the other, the mysterious lava giant who sought to cooperate with the sorcerers in the past month stood into the views of the sorcerers.
Jyorongshan only had a height of three meters. It looked at the tall Lava Giant King unwaveringly.
“King Jyorongshan?”
“How could it be, King Jyorongshan?”
The Lava Giants were exclaiming in disbelief as they looked upon King Jyorongshan that was admonishing the Lava Giant King in a loud manner. The high morale of the battlefield was shaken by Jyorongshan’s credibility.
“You! Jyorongshan, what is the meaning of this?”
The Lava Giant King was filled with killing intent. He coldly asked,” You dare challenge my words?”
The King Jyorongshan was unfazed. He looked at all the Lava Giants that were around. He spoke straight from his heart. “The great people of the Lava Giant clan, Bog’thamir’s decision would lose us the only chance for the clan to revive in these past millions of years! Maybe, for those of you who are out here, complying with the sorcerer’s will is unacceptable and a decision that would sell our souls and pride. But the world is cruel. If we do not let go of some of our pride in this opportunity of a lifetime, then we shall pay hundred-folds, even thousand-folds for our foolishness tomorrow, we might even be in the path of destruction!”
In an inconspicuous corner behind the sorcerer legion, Grimm’s pair of eyes were shining with intelligent brilliance under his Mask of Truth.
Grimm used to think that the Fallen Amonros were fools to have been tempted to set up the Shadow Empire by the sorcerers. He even used to laugh at them in his heart.
But now, he thought that perhaps there were some intelligent ones among the Fallen Amonros that were trying to save the Amonro race.
In the face of an absolute difference in power, resisting would only mean certain death. That is the true foolishness. Only by making necessary compromises, one could keep a lifeline and have a chance of changing his fate.
“Roar! Jyorongshan, how dare you speak of treachery in front of me and deceive the whole clan, you are betraying the pride of the Lava Giant clan! All Lava Giants, attack and kill them all along with this traitor!”
The Lava Giant King who was enraged to its limits waved its hand and pointed at Jyorongshan and the groups of demon-hunting sorcerers. Its fire waves were spreading out.
Rumble…rumble…rumble…
Tens of thousands of Lava Giants heeded the command of their king as they rushed toward the void fortress, accompanied by the huge bloodfall lavawyverns.
However, there were some Lava Giants that were shaken by Jyorongshan’s appearance. Some even appeared to be servants of Jyorongshan, as they tried to stop other Lava Giants from attacking.
At this moment, the Lava Giants were in chaos. Only less than forty percent of the Lava Giants heeded the king’s order.
“Like throwing eggs at a stone!”
“You overestimate yourselves!”
“You’re looking at certain death!”
The three Stigmata Sorcerers yelled at them. At the sound of a blast, elemental energies started dissipating and converged. Instantly, they turned into a Cosmic Giant and swept across thousands of Lava Giants as it headed to pin down the Lava Giant King.
“Blow them away!”
In the camps of the Dark Sorcerers, as orders were given out, the group of Dark Sorcerers were like meteorites showering down from the skies. Their sorcerer’s barriers caused fiery frictions as they dived into the pockets of Lava Giants that attempted to resist.
“This race actually had a high number of them that has Natural Elemental Soul! Looks like I have to do my best to gather these precious resources.”
A sense of greed flashed across Grimm, who was still in awe.
The rest of the Dark Sorcerers who noticed the same thing dived into the battle as well. There was greed all over them.
The Bright Sorcerers and the remnants of the soul slave legions did not launch into attack. Apparently, they were securing the rear and waiting to see if there was any chance that Jyorongshan and the non-resisting Lava Giants could come to an agreement.
