A Clash of Gods - Chapter 16
Chapter 16 The Six Directions
When Yang Ning woke up, the sky was already bright, and the sunshine pierced through the branches and leaves, and the light spots were irregular but mottled. He looked up, and saw flourish forest. The scenery in this mountain was pretty gorgeous, different from the gloom one last night. He breathed the fresh air in, which was refreshing.
“You wake up?” Mr. Mu’s voice sounded behind him, “I am thirsty. You go find some wild fruits to fill the hunger.”
Yang Ning looked back. Although it was still a bit dim in the cave, it was much clearer than last night. Mr. Mu sat cross-legged in the cave like a cultivating old monk.
Yang Ning scolded in his heart, and he was also a little thirsty. He said with a smile, “Old lia… Oh, Mr. Mu, morning. Did you sleep well last night?”
Mr. Mu ignored him. Yang Ning asked for a snub. He got up and moved his limbs. With this sleep last night, he had greatly restored his energy and physical strength.
He stepped forward and was about to leave. Mr. Mu’s voice sounded behind him, “Bunny, you are smart. Don’t cause trouble for yourself.”
Yang Ning knew what he meant. Mr. Mu was worried that he would run away. He chuckled without saying anything.
The mountains were full of trees. Vines and thorns could be seen everywhere. It was not easy to find wild fruits. Fortunately, he was young and agile, so he was able to walk through the mountain quickly. He walked four or five li away and heard the sound of water gurgling. He went in the direction where the sound came and found that it was a mountain stream. He was feeling thirsty. When he came to the stream, he saw that the stream was clear, so he took some water and washed his face.
It was natural and non-polluted water. Of course, he should drink such water happily. He glanced around, and found that there were really a few wild fruit trees not far away, on which were full of fruit. But he couldn’t recognize what they were. Yang Ning picked a few fruits and they tasted crisp and sweet. The flavor of them was really not bad.
He was thinking whether to take this opportunity to leave. At this time, it was a perfect opportunity to get rid of Mr. Mu. But he still hesitated when he thought of Mr. Mu’s threat.
Although the old liar was full of nonsense and he claimed that he had wounded Yang Ning’s strange veins using his Withering Wood Hand, Yang Ning still had some doubts.
The old guy was seriously injured. Yang Ning doubted whether he could really pat his shoulders twice and hurt him. More importantly, so far, Yang Ning hadn’t felt any physical discomfort at all.
His eyes rolled, and he didn’t hesitate any more. He continued to travel south. Within an hour, his heart suddenly tightened, and a tingling sensation spread from his heart to his shoulder.
Yang Ning sat down on the ground, sweating on the forehead, reaching for his chest. At this time, his heart was beating rapidly, and the tingling pain made him almost unable to breathe.
After a while, the tingling sensation slowly diminished, and when it disappeared, Yang Ning took a deep breath. His eyes became cold, and he clenched his fists, cursing, “That old miscellaneous guy actually did such a cruel thing.” He doubted whether Mr. Mu exaggerated it before, but at this moment, he wasn’t doubtful any more.
Thinking that he was threatened by that old guy, Yang Ning was full of hatred and regrets. He blamed himself for having gone up the mountain. But this being the case, he could only take one step at a time and adapt to the situation.
He could only turn around and pick five or six fruits by the stream. He was depressed and returned to the cave. Before he entered the cave, he heard a strange cry from inside. Out of curiosity, he quietly walked to the entrance of the cave and looked inside. He saw that Mr. Mu was struggling and rolling on the ground, thumping his chest with both hands desperately, as if he were crazy.
Yang Ning was taken aback, wondering if this old guy was attacked by the poison.
Mr. Mu yelled in a low voice, but seemed to be trying to suppress his voice. He first struggled and rolled on the ground, suddenly stood up and rushed to the stone wall in the cave. His hands propped on the wall, and then he banged his head against the stone wall.
Yang Ning was shocked. He did want Mr. Mu to kill himself. However, if this old guy died, no one could heal his injuries.
Mr. Mu behaved like a crazy man, and with a few hits, his forehead was bloody, but he didn’t seem to know the pain at all. Yang Ning ran forward and shouted, “Mr. Mu, Mr. Mu. What can’t be solved? You can’t treat yourself like this.”
Mr. Mu turned his head abruptly, and Yang Ning saw him with a terrible complexion. His eyes were blood red at this time, coupled with the blood flowing down his forehead, and the headband tied on his forehead was already dyed red by his blood.
“Mr. Mu…” Yang Ning saw Mr. Mu staring at him with that pair of eyes like a beast, and he felt horrified, thinking that the poison was so powerful that it made a strong person like Mr. Mu degenerate like this.
Suddenly, Mr. Mu rushed forward. Yang Ning was prepared, and quickly backed away. Mr. Mu tripped and fell to the ground, then he rolled and struggled on the ground again, patting his chest with both hands violently. Yang Ning was thrilled and retreated outside the cave. After a long while, Mr. Mu gradually calmed down, and then became motionless. He lay on the ground as if her were dead.
Yang Ning waited a short while before stepping quietly. Mr. Mu’s eyes tightly closed, and his teeth clenched, while his forehead was bleeding. His face was pale and terrible.
Yang Ning kicked him a few times but Mr. Mu didn’t have any reactions.
“Does the old guy really die of the poison?” Yang Ning was depressed. He squatted down and reached out to Mr. Mu’s nose, finding that he still had a slight breath. Then he was relieved. He took this chance to slap on Mr. Mu’s face and couldn’t help but scold, “You old demon. No one will care about you if you want to die, but why do you have to drag me down?” With the hatred, he got up and kicked him again.
Suddenly, he fixed his sight at a book opened at the foot of the stone wall. Out of curiosity, he walked over and picked it up.
When he got it in his hand, he found that it was a scroll, most of which hadn’t been spread out yet. This scroll felt very smooth, but the texture was obviously not ordinary paper. However, he didn’t know what the material was.
The scroll was a little yellow. At first glance, one could tell that it was old. Yang Ning read it carefully. On this scroll, a naked body was drawn every half-finger width, but the postures of the body were slightly different, and on each body, there were crisscross lines. Yang Ning suddenly recognized that they were portraits of people’s meridians.
He was a little curious. This scroll must be something old, but why did the old guy carry this picture with him?
Mr. Mu was motionless as if he were dead at this time.
It was dim in the cave, so Yang Ning didn’t see very clearly the portraits on the scroll. When he walked to the entrance of the cave and the light was bright, he found that the veins of the naked body were explained in details. The meridians were mostly black, but on each body portrait, there was a very conspicuous red line.
This scroll had a very long age, and the surface of the scroll was yellow, and the red line was quite bleak, but it could still be clearly distinguished.
The scroll opened from right to left. At the furthest right of the scroll, some large characters were written in ancient characters from top to bottom, and there were several small characters on the side.
Yang Ning’s ancient text skills were actually not bad, but his ancient characters skills were very shallow. However, Yang Ning barely could recognize these big ancient characters.
The Skills of Six Directions!
Yang Ning was stunned for a moment. The name sounded powerful. Only then did he realize that this scroll was probably the martial arts esoterica, but it was not surprising that Mr. Mu carried martial arts esoterica.
On the sidelines, Yang Ning really couldn’t recognize many of the characters. He barely read “The six directions are four positions plus up and down, as the world and the universe”, “Condense the six directions, like condense the sand into a pile”, etc. He couldn’t recognize most of them.
Yang Ning had undergone special training in his previous life, and had strict training on the human skeleton and meridians, so it was really intimate to see the dense meridian lines of the human body at this moment.
The red line in the first picture started from the little finger of the left hand, and five red lines spread from the fingertip to a meridian at the wrist. The five lines were united, extending from the meridian of the arm all the way to the left armpit, and then to the chest. It stopped when it reached a red line in the middle of the chest.
Yang Ning recognized at a glance that the acupoint where the line finally reached on the chest was the critical Danzhong acupoint.
From the little finger of the left hand to the Danzhong acupoint, it seemed not to be very tortuous, but it had passed more than ten acupoints. As it passed, each acupoint was slightly thicker, which was obviously to make them easy to distinguish.
In fact, there were thirty or forty points on this road, but only a dozen points were connected by the red line. Yang Ning was very familiar with these points, but for a time, he couldn’t see what the purpose it was to mark it like this in the picture.
He simply unfolded the picture completely and spread it on the ground. In fact, the picture was not long. From right to left, there were eleven pictures in sequence.
The painter was obviously a master of drawing. The human figure was very realistic, but the human movements on the eleven pictures were somewhat different, such as the first picture. His left arm was slightly raised, and the right arm was attached to the body the second picture was just the opposite. This is also to highlight the key points. The red line of the first picture was on the left arm, so it was more prominent to lift the left arm.
Each picture had a conspicuous red line meridian. Yang Ning glanced roughly and found that although each picture had a different starting point, the ending point was the Danzhong acupoint on the chest.
The starting points of the eleven pictures were left hand, right hand, shoulders, feet, knees, lower abdomen, between the eyebrows and the spine. The portraits of spine turned the back to the readers.
The meridians passed by the red line of each picture were completely different, and the number of acupoints was also different. For example, the red line which from the feet with the longest distance spread to the Danzhong acupoint passed tens of acupoints, while the red line which from the shoulders with the nearest distance spread to the Danzhong acupoint passed seven or eight acupoints.
Although the figure of the human body was realistic and the acupuncture points were also pointed out with black dots, the name of the acupuncture point was not marked on it. Those who did not understand the acupuncture points would be confused.
However, Yang Ning also knew that since the Skills of Six Directions was martial arts esoterica, the owner should be an expert. The martial practitioners surely understood the acupuncture points of the whole body, even if the names of the acupoints were not marked on the picture, the experts would tell every acupoints that the red line passed.
