A Clash of Gods - Chapter 133
Chapter 133 A Desperate Situation
Jingkong and Chi Danmei fought with their palms, which was dazzling and the onlookers’ eyes couldn’t take it all in. Yang Ning gasped in admiration and knew that he had underestimated Chi Danmei. This seductive woman didn’t show her master card as soon as she started to fight, and it was obvious that she wanted to check Jingkong’s capability.
Suddenly Jingkong roared in a low voice and his hands were shaky. Yang Ning was stunned and saw that Jingkong’s palms miraculously transformed all of a sudden. The two palms transformed into four palms, which then transformed into eight. Just in a short while, a row of palm shadows were in front of him. The palm shadows were interlaced and changing frequently.
Somebody in the crowd exclaimed in surprise, “Benevolence Hands.”
Chi Danmei screamed in a soft voice and moved backward swiftly like a butterfly. Jingkong who had been standing there still all the time walked forward now, continuously waving his palms to pound Chi Danmei. The palm shadows transformed miraculously, and it seemed that he pounded her whole body with countless palms. She retreated repeatedly, and it was obvious that she was no match for him.
Yang Ning looked excited.
At the moment, Jingkong started his unique skill. Although Yang Ning was not skilled in palm movements, he just thought that Jingkong’s skills were extraordinarily wonderful. He laughed in secret and thought that this old monk was not as honest as he looked and it turned out that he concealed his own ability, only showing the unique skill in the end.
At this time, anybody in the hall could see that Jingkong had gained the upper hand, and Chi Danmei was suppressed by his palms. She just dodged depending on her swift movements and didn’t have the power to fight back.
Suddenly Jingkong paused and moved slowly. Although his genuine qi was forceful and his martial skills were ingenious, Chi Danmei intended to dodge, and he couldn’t even get close to her for a moment. In an instant, the palm shadows which transformed miraculously disappeared gradually. Jingkong moved more slowly and was even stagnant.
All the monks in the hall looked at one another speechlessly and thought it was strange. Jingkong had gained the upper hand obviously. Although Chi Danmei dodged swiftly, she was covered by his palms all the time. Anybody could see that she was on the decline, and Jingkong could definitely win in just a short while.
Nobody had expected that Jingkong would withdraw his palms suddenly, and it meant that he gave Chi Danmei a chance to gasp for breath.
Some people wondered if Jingkong was old and weak. But judging from the vigorous genuine qi in his body, even though he was aged, it was enough to sustain him for a period more.
Chi Danmei twisted her body all of a sudden. She had been dodging, yet she was like a back thrust and moved to be in front of Jingkong abruptly. He managed with effort to wave his palms, while Chi Danmei leaned the upper part of her body backward, and her plump breasts tightened, with her bra standing erect like mountains. She fell to the ground on her knees and slid to be under Jingkong. Then she stretched out two fingers and pointed at his waist.
Jingkong grunted and moved several steps backward successively. Then he stood steadily and suddenly spat fresh blood. Afterward, his legs softened, and he fell on the ground.
Chi Danmei rolled and then got up, with the edge of her dress hung under her shoulder. Then she smiled charmingly and stated, “Master, you have ingenious martial skills and I almost lost. Fortunately, you are benevolent, modest and polite, letting me win this round by luck.”
Jingneng quickly walked up and supported Jingkong, asking in surprise, “Jingkong, you…”
Jingkong struggled to sit up and sighed with a bitter smile. “Chi, you are quite smart. I…I admit defeat!”
In the Brilliance Hall, all people were shocked. None of them had expected that Master Jingkong who was only inferior to the abbot would be defeated by such a young seductive woman.
Jingkong was not under the disadvantage from beginning to end. None of them could figure out why.
Yang Ning also frowned and was as astonished as all people, but he thought that the turning point of their fight happened in an instant. Jingkong had suppressed Chi Danmei with the Benevolence Hands apparently yet withdrew his palms all of a sudden. As a powerful great master, Jingkong certainly knew that the victory would be decided merely in a flash. Why did he withdraw his palms suddenly?
Chi Danmei’s legs slid forward, and this movement looked beautiful, but it was not brilliant. With Jingkong’s actual strength, he would never let Chi Danmei approach him in this way and then hurt him. However, under the watchful eyes of all people, Jingkong didn’t react apparently.
“You…you played a dirty trick!” Suddenly Jingneng roared harshly and grabbed Jingkong’s hand. “Did you leave this scratch on Jingkong’s hand?”
Chi Danmei chuckled. “Master, you are unreasonable to say that. We were fighting to learn from each other. Although we had an agreement that we should try to stop at a certain point and not to kill each other, can’t we leave any injuries? When we are competing, it is normal even if a bone is broken, let alone a minor injury.”
Jingneng argued, “Jingkong gained the upper hand, yet the power of his palms weakened all of a sudden. Did it have nothing to do with you?”
“It did have something to do with me.” Chi Danmei smiled. “In the competition, no matter what happens, it has something to do with the competitors, right? Master, we lost the first round and admitted it without hesitation, and we don’t bother about the fact that the monks in your temple have practiced the martial skills to protect their bodies. Now I have won a round by luck. Will you act shamelessly and refuse to admit it?” Her pretty eyes rolled, and she looked at Jingkong. “Master Jingkong has admitted defeat in person, and he is more like an eminent monk than you.”
Jingneng responded angrily, “There must be something wrong with your fingernails. We…”
“Jingneng, stop arguing.” Jingkong sighed. “I wasn’t alert enough, nor am I capable. Chi has won this round.”
“Jingkong, you stay in the temple all year round and don’t know how evil some people are. They harbor evil intentions and showed dirty tricks repeatedly. You just want to compete with her openly, but she…” Jingneng still wanted to debate, while Jingkong merely waved his hand and gestured for him to stop speaking.
“Yo, Master, you said something unpleasant to hear.” Chi Danmei smiled sweetly and added in an affected voice, “Do you mean that I am indecent? You are a Buddhist, and how can you comment on others like this? You met me for the first time today and never stay with me alone. How do you know that I am indecent?”
Jingkong sat on the cattail hassock with Jingneng’s help and put his palms together. “Chi, Jingneng didn’t mean that. Don’t misunderstand.”
Bai Yuhe who was like a tree stool finally took one step forward all of a sudden and announced in a cold voice, “Please give me instructions!”
After he said that, it was silent in the Brilliance Hall.
At the moment, the Temple of Great Light had fallen into a desperate situation.
They had won the fight in arrays, and none of the people in the Temple of Great Light doubted that the competition would end up with the victory of two rounds, so Bai Yuhe wouldn’t have a chance to compete.
Anybody knew that if they would have to compete on swordsmanship in the third round, the Temple of Great Light would lose eventually.
Both Jingkong and Jingneng had given up the competition on swordsmanship from the beginning, but after two rounds, it was a draw, and they had to compete on the third round.
Jingneng had learnt many kinds of martial skills, yet swordsmanship was not included. More than that, he never grabbed a sword. At the moment, even though he wanted to fight hard, he didn’t have the power.
There were five hundred people in the Temple of Great Light, but less than twenty among them practiced swordsmanship, all of whom were Jingtong’s disciples. Even if Jingtong was present, he might not win, not to mention his disciples.
“Please give me instructions!” Bai Yuhe repeated.
Although the war hadn’t started, Bai Yuhe’s momentum gained the upper hand.
All the monks in the temple looked at one another speechlessly. Seeing that Bai Yuhe’s imposing manner was terrifying, but there was no member in the Temple of Great Light who could take part in this round unexpectedly, all monks were depressed.
Some people were angry and wanted to rush out to have a fight, but as Bai Yuhe looked calm on the surface yet horrible and his momentum had majesty that nobody could offend, none of them dared to step out.
Jingkong sighed and looked into Jingneng’s eyes. Both of them knew that it was beyond retrieval. They had an agreement earlier, and the disciples from the Baiyun Island could send one person to stay in the Purification Building for three days, so the people in the Temple of Great Light couldn’t fail to keep faith. However, the Purification Building was the heart of the temple. Once a disciple from the Baiyun Island entered it, it was fatal to the temple, like the heart being stabbed.
The books about martial arts in the history were kept in the Purification Building, and they couldn’t read all the books within three days. Even if somebody didn’t stop every day and night, they could read a small part at most during this period.
But as the disciples from the Baiyun Island were well prepared before coming and directly said that they would enter the Purification Building, it was obvious that they knew what they wanted, and the Temple of Great Light was famous, so the Baiyun Island naturally knew what the most powerful martial skills in this temple were.
The disciple from the Baiyun Island just needed to read a few books about profound martial skills in the Purification Building and kept them in mind before taking them out of the Purple Mountain. Then the destiny of the Temple of Great Light would be in the hands of the other party.
They agreed to compete on martial arts today because they didn’t want to fall out with the Baiyun Island, which would make them become enemies in the future and bring the temple endless trouble. Moreover, if the two sides became enemies, it would influence the relationship between the Eastern Qi State and Southern Chu State and harm the general situation. On the other hand, it was because Jingkong was confident to fight off the provocation from the Baiyun Island.
If they could win, they could make the Baiyun Island unable to find other excuses and get rid of their threat for good and all. Furthermore, it could prevent the relationship between the two states from being influenced.
Unfortunately, they had to expect the unexpected.
Jingkong had never expected that he would be defeated by the cunning Chi Danmei.
At the moment, it was useless to say more. Jingkong pondered for a moment and finally said, “Bai, although I stay in the temple for a long time, I have heard about your name. I heard that among the promising young people who are excellent at swordsmanship in the world, you can surely be one of the top three…”
As Bai Yuhe heard that, his canthus trembled slightly. He showed a sneer but didn’t say anything.
Yang Ning thought, “Awesome. It turns out that this cool guy’s swordsmanship is so outstanding. I thought earlier that Bai Yuhe just pretended to be a great master. But Jingkong knows about this guy and even knows that he can be one of the top three among the bright younger generation who are good at swordsmanship.”
“Jingtong from our temple knows something about swordsmanship… However, he is not in the temple today, so we don’t need to compete on the last…” Jingkong could do nothing. When he was about to admit defeat, he heard a sound. Then he raised his head, to see that somebody rushed out of the crowd suddenly while staggering.
All people looked at him simultaneously and somebody got excited. “It turns out that there is a fearless man in our temple, but I don’t know which senior fellow apprentice is so heroic and capable.”
Then all people found that the man who rushed out was dressed in a monk’s robe yet with long hair. They furrowed their brows at once, and some people instantly recognized that the man showing up all of a sudden was the guy who had caused trouble in the Five Cereal Hall earlier.
Jingneng glanced at him and then recognized him, too. He asked with a frown, “Qi Ning, what are you going to do?”
The one who rushed out of the crowd was Qi Ning.
However, Qi Ning showed a cold face and looked back, yelling at the crowd behind him, “Fuck! Who kicked me out from behind? If you are capable, just get out!”
