Chapter 101 The Poison King
Yang Ning was trapped in the box and didn’t know if it was in the daytime or at night. He just felt that the road was smooth in the beginning, but later, it bumped more and more seriously and he was dizzy. Then he went into a coma again. When he woke up once more, the carriage was still moving, but it didn’t bump seriously as before. He felt that the carriage was moving from a higher place to a lower place.

He didn’t know how long he had been in the coma for twice. He guessed that he was conscious for one or two days. Although he didn’t need to walk, he was in the box which bumped, so he was exhausted. Moreover, he was hungry and thirsty.

The demon girl had merely said that they would go to a valley, but Yang Ning didn’t know which valley they headed to or where it was. He wondered if they would go to Ba Shu.

The demon girl didn’t give him food or drinking water. If it went on like this, he would starve to death in only a few days before the poison attacked.

He didn’t know how long had passed and suddenly felt that the carriage finally stopped. Soon he heard the sounds from outside the wooden box. And then with a creak, some light came in. Yang Ning was in the dark box all the time, and when the light came in all of a sudden, he was not adapted to it, so he closed his eyes first. When he opened his eyes again, he saw the demon girl standing beside the wooden box and looking down at him.

At the sight of that face, Yang Ning got furious, but the demon girl showed a beautiful smile, asking, “Are you still alive? It’s great. If you are dead, too, it would be not fun.”

Yang Ning snorted, while the demon girl continued, “The valley is in the front, and there is no road. You get down and then walk there with me.”

Yang Ning moved a bit and found that his strength recovered a little, but his legs were numb. He knew that he had sat in the box for too long. After he got accustomed to it, he stated coldly, “You told me to walk with you, but my legs are tied up. Would you tell me to jump?” He raised his head and had a look, to see that it was at dusk and the sun was setting.

The demon girl was stunned and then laughed. “It’s fun if you jump.” But she still reached out a hand with Yang Ning’s Cold Blade and cut the rope on his legs. Then he stood up in the wooden box. As he expected, the box was on a carriage, and there was another carriage in the front with two big wooden cases on it.

He looked around and saw that there were mountains in three directions. The bamboo plants were dense and the scenery was quiet and beautiful. There was a bamboo forest in the front and it blocked the way of the carriage.

“You are so lucky that you can stay alive, but that person couldn’t insist.” The demon girl pointed aside with a smile. “I don’t know when he died.”

Yang Ning came out of the wooden box and stood beside the carriage, looking in the direction where she pointed, to see a man lying on the ground with his face up. That was the burly man who had been nailed to the tree by Big Devil. He was unmoved and his face was as white as snow with no blood. His body was stiff, and it could be seen at a glance that he was dead.

The ropes on the legs of Zhao Yuan and the other burly man had been cut off, but their hands were tied up. The burly man dressed in sportswear lowered his head. While Zhao Yuan’s face was yellowish, and he was in an awkward predicament with his messy clothes, greatly different from the scholar who looked like a gentleman. Now he looked gloomy and stared at the demon girl with hatred in his eyes.

Big Devil and Little Devil who were like giants stood aside. It was still early and was not as dark as that night on Xia Mountain. Yang Ning looked at the two men carefully in astonishment.

If he looked at their backs, they were big and tall men, but when he looked at them in the front, he found that the two men’s skin was waxen, as if their faces were painted with yellow oil paint. Their eyebrows were quite long and messy and lowered beside the corners of their eyes. Their cheekbones were prominent and their mouths bulged. There was long yellow hair on their waxen faces, and they were almost the same as the apes, but they were not apes apparently. It seemed that they were apes which hadn’t fully evolved to humans.

Under the sunset, they didn’t have scars on their faces, but Yang Ning felt that they were even uglier than the ugly man with a black cloak whose half face was ruined.

At the thought of the ugly man, Yang Ning thought of Gu Qinghan and wondered if they were safe now.

Suddenly he heard a strange sound from the sky. Yang Ning thought the sound was familiar. He raised his head, to see a big bird in the sky. The cry reminded him of the bird which roared like a beast he had heard on the Xia Mountain that night. He was surprised and wondered if that big bird he had seen on that mountain flew here.

Then he saw that big bird suddenly rush down rapidly like a meteorite from outside the earth. Yang Ning couldn’t help but move two steps backward. When the big bird flew down like lightning, it rushed to the demon girl. Yang Ning frowned but saw that the girl seemed not to find the big bird flying down, and she didn’t dodge. He thought this evil demon girl would be rewarded with evil, and how could her small body resist the attack from that big bird? But she was so young, like a doll made of beautiful jade. If she lost her life under the big bird’s attack, it would be a pity.

He saw that the big bird was about to approach the demon girl, but it turned over and then circled around her. At last it fell on the girl’s head and stood steadily.

Yang Ning was stunned and finally saw clearly that it was a big bird like a hawk with black and bright feathers all over. Its beak was like a hook. Although it was just a hawk, there was fierce coldness in its eyes. It was not small and stood on the girl’s head. Its body was much bigger than her head.

But the demon girl giggled and called, “Big Devil!”

Then Yang Ning saw that Big Devil had brought a leather bag in his hand and reached out to take out something from inside. Then he raised his hand and threw the stuff to the hawk. He threw it in the right direction and the hawk was swift. It moved forward and held the stuff in its beak like a hook. Yang Ning looked at it carefully and got surprised, but he recognized that it was the snake meat obviously.

He immediately thought that he saw Big Devil or Little Devil hunting snakes and cutting the big snake into pieces on Xia Mountain that day. At that time, he didn’t know what the snake hunter was going to do. Now he finally realized that he was looking for food for this hawk. So this fierce hawk was the demon girl’s pet unexpectedly.

It was no wonder that hearing the hawk’s strange sounds, this demon girl didn’t even raise her head or care as it fell from the sky. It was what she raised, so she certainly didn’t fear it.

The other girls raised cats or dogs, but this demon girl raised snakes and a hawk. Yang Ning was more certain that this girl had an extraordinary background.

“Hey, do you think Black Lightning is beautiful?” The demon girl asked Yang Ning complacently. “I raise it in person and feed it snakes and insects Since it was a baby, and it has eaten people.” She pointed at the dead body on the ground. “Later this dead body will be given to Black Lightning as a reward.” She raised her hand to touch the hawk named Black Lightning. “Black Lightning, do you want to eat human flesh? I will keep it for you.”

Yang Ning thought that man died perhaps because the poison attacked, and if Black Lightning ate the human flesh, wouldn’t it be poisoned? Then he remembered that the poison had been put by the demon girl and Black Lightning was raised by her, so she wouldn’t be afraid.

Since the demon girl let Black Lightning eat human flesh, Yang Ning felt gross and was more disgusted with her.

“Who the hell are you?” Zhao Yuan who stared at the demon girl with hatred all the time finally asked. “Do you know that you have caused much trouble?”

The demon girl blinked and laughed. “My father said that I know nothing but to cause trouble, and I like to cause trouble innately. So what?”

Zhao Yuan was in an awkward position with his messy clothes, but he still sneered. “Is your family name Qiu?”

“Qiu?” The demon girl giggled. “You just guess randomly. Why would my family name be Qiu?”

Zhao Yuan was stunned but then asked at once, “Do you know Qiu Qianyi?”

The demon girl asked in surprise, “You… Do you know my master?” She said that, so she had admitted that Qiu Qianyi was her master.

Yang Ning wondered who Qiu Qianyi was and why Zhao Yuan knew this person.

He was curious about the demon girl’s background and also confused about where Zhao Yuan came from.

Zhao Yuan instantly laughed in a weird way. “It turns out that you are Qiu Qianyi’s disciple. It’s no wonder. In fact, I should have guessed earlier that you are related to Qiu Qianyi.”

With the Cold Blade in her hand, the demon girl moved her fair-skinned legs slowly and approached Zhao Yuan, circling around him. Then she asked in confusion, “Do you know my master? How did you know his name?”

Zhao Yuan replied coldly, “Qiu Qianyi is famous and many people know him. The poison king in the Nine Creek can be counted as the number one poison master in Ba Shu and Qiu Qianyi is regarded as God by White Miao people. I am surprised that you are his disciple.”

Hearing that, Yang Ning finally knew that Qiu Qianyi was the poison king. No matter in which field, the one who could be called king must be the top big shot. Since Qiu Qianyi was called poison king, he must be skilled in using poison. The demon girl was his disciple, and no wonder she was good at using poison.

However, the demon girl pouted and expressed with displeasure, “The number one poison master in Ba Shu? But the powerful poison in the world comes from Ba Shu. Since my master is the number one poison master in Ba Shu, he is the number one in the world. If he knows that you said he is the number one poison master in Ba Shu, he would be unhappy and even make you die miserably.”

Zhao Yuan responded in a deep voice, “Demon Girl, I advise you to let all of us go now and give Qi Ning to us. If you stop at this point, I can let bygones be bygones because you are young and ignorant. Otherwise, you will not only bring trouble to yourself but also make all White Miao people doomed.”

Yang Ning couldn’t help but sigh and wondered why Zhao Yuan was so confident as to boast without shame when he had been tortured like this. The demon girl couldn’t be frightened with only a few words. He still threatened her, and he just asked for trouble.

As expected, the demon girl’s face darkened. “My master told me that I can’t give up halfway. Since I have captured you, I won’t let you go. You are still threatening me, but I am not afraid of you.” She whistled in a clear voice, and Black Lightning on her head suddenly flapped its wings and flew up. Yang Ning thought it would leave, but it turned around and came to Zhao Yuan. It stretched out its sharp claws and scratched his eyes accurately. Zhao Yuan screamed miserably and Black Lightning roared while flapping its wings to leave.

There was much blood in Zhao Yuan’s eyes, and Black Lightning had blinded him.
