Nine Evolutions of the True Spirit - Chapter 334
Chapter 334 – Shocking Events
Such heavenly power, this must be the work of an Avatar Realm Great Ancestor!
Lu Ping was stunned as he saw the waves coming towards the island.
Many cultivators on Silver Sword Island were panicking. Suddenly a large colorful barrier was raised around the island, enveloping it like an egg shell.
“It’s the island’s great protective formation!”
“We’re saved!”
Just as the cultivators were beginning to calm down, they saw a silver light that caused them to tremble uncontrollably. The silver light slashed the giant wave down the middle, causing the top of the wave to crash into itself. In the end, only a portion of the giant wave struck the island’s barrier.
The barrier vibrated but it stood firmly against the giant wave. Only then did the cultivators finally feel relieved.
When the cultivators tried to recall the silver light, they were surprised to find that even with their perceptive minds, they couldn’t understand what it looked like, or what it was. Only a capable few, such as Lu Ping, were able to see the truth behind it.
Due to his exceptional divine revelation and the [Tri-Pristine True Vision], Lu Ping was able to see the silver light, which was actually a sword light from a great sword divine ability. Unlike other great divine abilities that had fantastical effects and heavenly phenomena, this great sword divine ability was almost silent, yet it was extremely fast, so fast that even Enlightened Masters’ divine revelations couldn’t track its speed.
A fleeting sword that cleaves the sky!
The quintessence of the greatest sword art from the greatest sword sect, Sky Cleaving Sword Sect’s great sword divine ability!
If not for his attainments in the sword arts that neared the edge of achieving a great sword divine ability, Lu Ping wouldn’t have been able to identify the sword light even after seeing it with his divine revelation.
That said, only a great divine ability could compete with another great divine ability. Hence, the giant wave must also have been a great divine ability.
After the giant wave subsided, the cultivators that have just calmed down were once again shocked. On the horizon where the sky and sea met, there was a white line that was gradually becoming thicker; another giant wave was approaching the island!
As the giant wave approached the island, there were cultivators that shouted, “Look, there are people fleeing from the wave!”
Sure enough, there were some Enlightened Masters desperately fleeing for their lives.
As the giant wave gradually caught up with the fleeing Enlightened Masters, one of them suddenly attacked an Enlightened Master in front of him.
The Enlightened Master was caught off guard; although he managed to block the attack, he was momentarily held back. The Enlightened Master behind him then took the opportunity to overtake him.
The Enlightened Master that had been attacked immediately knew that he had been set up. However, before he could pick his speed up, a water arm stretched out from the giant wave behind him and entangled him. The Enlightened Master was as powerless as a child and was pulled away, disappearing into the water.
Lu Ping could see clearer with his [Tri-Pristine True Vision] compared to the average cultivator, and was shocked to see that Liang Xuan-Feng was in the midst of the fleeing cultivators.
Although Liang Xuan-Feng’s clothes were in tatters, he didn’t seem to have sustained any, which eased his worries greatly. Lu Ping wondered why Liang Xuan-Feng hadn’t overtaken the crowd using his wind-element spells and had instead remained in the middle of the pack.
The giant wave was catching up again and the Enlightened Master at the rear tried to repeat his dirty trick again. But this time the two Enlightened Masters in front of him acted swiftly, turning around and attacking the Enlightened Master before he could get the chance.
The Enlightened Master didn’t foresee this coming and was caught off-guard, he was forced to defend the attacks, giving the giant wave the chance to swallow him.
The cultivators remained unmoved. Sometimes, life and death situations bring out the best of humanity, but more often not, the worst of humanity would be shown first.
After that, only seven cultivators remained alive and were making their way towards Silver Sword Island.
“Great Ancestor Kong Shang, do you really think our Sky Cleaving Sword Sect has no one?”
A majestic and solemn voice echoed from the center of the island, with a hint of anger.
“Great Ancestor Miao-Jian!”
“Silver Sword Island is unbreakable!”
…
The seven Enlightened Masters were also overjoyed to hear Great Ancestor Miao-Jian was on the island, and traveled even faster towards the island.
A series of rumbles occurred under the sea, and a deep penetrating voice spoke from the horizon, “Miao-Jian, hand over the murderer of my beloved grandson, or I will sink Silver Sword Island today! These puny humans are just the beginning!”
Great Ancestor Miao-Jian sighed. This time, he spoke to the seven Enlightened Masters, “Dao friends, the island’s protective barrier has been raised. I will buy you some time, may you find the best escape route.”
Great Ancestor Kong Shang and other monster cultivators were already in front of Silver Sword Island. Opening the protective formation would also give them the chance to board the island. Hence, Great Ancestor Miao-Jian wouldn’t take the risk, not even for seven Enlightened Masters.
As the seven cultivators heard him, they felt depressed at the situation. Four of them decisively left in different directions, while the remaining three, including Liang Xuan-Feng, continued onwards toward Silver Sword Island.
Another sigh was head, followed by the silver light. This time, the cultivators were paying more attention and realized that the silver light was actually a sword light. The sword light slashed open the giant wave, but this time the giant wave was only stopped for a moment.
The cultivators on the island looked at the seven Enlightened Masters with sympathy; Silver Sword Island wouldn’t allow the three approaching Enlightened Masters to enter, they would certainly die when the giant wave struck the island. On the other hand, the four cultivators who left in different directions might not survive either due to the pursuit of the surrounding monster cultivators.
Great Ancestor Miao-Jian’s sword light bought the Enlightened Masters a moment of respite, but that was all. The giant wave continued to build up momentum, growing in size as it headed towards the island.
Three majestic water arms stretched out from the giant wave, grabbing towards the three Enlightened Masters who were flying side by side towards Silver Sword Island.
It was Great Ancestor Kong Shang!
Liang Xuan-Feng made a full rotation and swung a spinning wind wheel out from his hand. Then, after turning back around, the Flowing Cloud Canoe appeared beneath his feet along with a green wind stream that boosted his speed, and he started to make hundreds of hand signs.
The water arm reaching for Liang Xuan-Feng clashed directly with the spinning wind wheel. Amidst the great shock of the cultivators, the wind spell was able to cut down one-third of the water arm before it was crushed into chaotic turbulence.
That was an Avatar Realm Great Ancestor’s attack!
Great Ancestor Kong Shang also didn’t expect an Enlightened Master to be able to push back his attack, but he wasn’t concerned because the gap between the Core Forging Realm and the Avatar Realm was not that easy to close. But, it did make him more convinced that this Enlightened Master must die!
Not only was the water arm restored within a split second, it grew even larger, stronger and faster, while the other two water arms heading for the other Enlightened Masters also increased in speed.
Liang Xuan-Feng’s aura skyrocketed, revealing his Ninth Layer Core Forging Realm cultivation base. The cultivators on the island sympathized with him even more; it was a very regretful situation to see a potential Avatar Realm cultivator die just like this.
Liang Xuan-Feng shot forward like a wind wheel, overtaking the other two Enlightened Masters, and ramming straight at the island’s protective barrier.
Lu Ping knew that Liang Xuan-Feng was adventurous and had been to and explored many so he was exceptional at deciphering seals and array formations. Although Silver Sword Island’s protective formation had a Great Ancestor backing it, Liang Xuan-Feng still intended on trying his luck.
As Liang Xuan-Feng was just a step away from Avatar Realm, this made him a worthy target to be hunted by Great Ancestors. As a result, he knew that the chances of him escaping by other directions was slim.
As the cultivators watched him approaching the protective barrier, a golden sword light abruptly burst out from inside the barrier, heading towards Liang Xuan-Feng’s direction with strong momentum.
The golden sword light’s appearance shook the sword mystic instruments and sword mystic treasures of the cultivators on the island, causing them to exclaim in shock, “Great sword divine ability! Another one?”
“He’s helping the Enlightened Master outside! Are they together!?”
…
Liang Xuan-Feng and Lu Ping’s attacks struck the same spot on the protective barrier. A loud rumbling sound was created as the Golden Scale Sword’s tip pierced a small hole on the barrier, while Liang Xuan-Feng’s hundreds of seals seized the fleeting opportunity to enlarge the hole large enough for him to fit through.
Liang Xuan-Feng quickly entered the barrier, and then dismissed the seals he had cast to hold the opening causing it to immediately slam shut. The water arm was just a split second later, striking the barrier and stopping outside of it. The protective formation vibrated again, but it remained standing.
Lu Ping suddenly realized that Great Ancestor Miao-Jian must have weakened the protective formation at that spot for a brief moment to allow Liang Xuan-Feng to enter. Otherwise, there was no way Lu Ping could pierce a hole on the barrier at all.
Soon after, two cries of death were heard as the other two Enlightened Masters were killed.
A cold hum was let out from the center of the island. Lu Ping felt as if a hammer had struck his head, his face flushed white like snow and he almost fell to the ground.
Liang Xuan-Feng also shivered in pain but he recovered almost instantly. He clasped his hands together in the direction of the cold hum, and said, “Thank you for the help, senior.”
Lu Ping also bowed to thank Great Ancestor Miao-Jian.
After that, the two of them ignored the astonished gazes of the cultivators around them and hurriedly walked away.
