365-Day Trial Marriage With Hunk: Wife's A Little Wild - Chapter 243
Chapter 243: Chapter 243: As If He Became A Different Person
“Also, you just reminded me of something. If I remember correctly, Xuan is indeed my sister, and the only one at that. It would be better if Miss Meng still referred to me as Jin Chenye. Your use of ‘brother’ is a title I can’t bear.” Jin Chenye’s voice was neither light nor heavy, but every sentence hammered at Meng Ziqi’s nerves.
Her eyes widened with disbelief as she looked at Jin Chenye, who seemed to have changed into a different person. Her mouth was slightly ajar.
“Ye…”
Meng Ziqi’s term of endearment was stopped in its tracks by Jin Chenye’s sharp gaze, causing her to awkwardly close her mouth and remain stunned for a moment.
“It’s working hours now. What did you come to me for?” Jin Chenye, ignoring Meng Ziqi’s shocked expression, fetched a cigarette from a box on the table, lit it, and took a deep drag.
A wisp of smoke encircled his handsome face, outlining an aloof, gloomy countenance.
His casual action seemed to expose a side of him that was hidden and unknown to others in its entirety.
“I’m here for…” Meng Ziqi stared intently at that cigarette between Jin Chenye’s fingers, struggled to swallow her saliva before managing to calm herself, “I came regarding my aunt’s condition. I heard that in Southeast Asia, there’s an incredible doctor who may be able to awaken people in a vegetative state using hypnosis. My father has already asked someone to inquire about it, we found out that he is currently in Thailand, so…”
Meng Ziqi deliberately paused there, her face full of grievances as she looked up at Jin Chenye.
She knew Jin Chenye wanted to save Jin Lan, but whether a vegetative person could wake up really depended on fate.
She was now offering a clear path beyond fate, and if Jin Lan really woke up, Jin Chenye might be grateful to her for the rest of his life.
“Are you referring to the Divine Doctor, Diwu Zexuan?” Jin Chenye’s eyes flashed, his face remained unchanged, but his tone was noticeably softer.
After all, Meng Ziqi had saved his mother and she had just been discharged from the hospital. Now she was also making efforts for Jin Lan’s condition.
“You know?” Meng Ziqi said, surprised.
She had pulled many strings to find Diwu Zexuan’s whereabouts. Originally, she hoped to keep Jin Chenye in suspense a little longer to win his favor, but it seemed she was a step behind.
“Ye… Chenye, my father says Diwu Zexuan has a quirky temperament and cares not for money. He heals people based on his mood, not their wealth. Even the Thai king has been refused by him.” Meng Ziqi walked forward a couple of steps, stopping in front of Jin Chenye, speaking with a low, gentle tone. “I have already instructed my family to spare no effort in finding him. I hope Diwu Zexuan will agree to treat my aunt. If it helps her wake up, all efforts and resources expended will be worth it.”
Jin Chenye’s gaze paused for a few seconds before he lifted his hand to put out his cigarette and looked over at Meng Ziqi, “It’s getting late. If you’re not too busy, you could wait for me in the lounge. We can have dinner together after work.”
“Alright, I won’t interrupt your work then. I’ll wait for you in the lounge” joy spread across Meng Ziqi’s face, she did her best to maintain her composure, nearly radiant as she went to the nearby lounge.
Yujing Villa.
Qin Youxuan’s petite body was curled up on the living room couch, hugging a pillow, her eyes resentful as she stared at the man going through papers in front of her.
For half the day, Dan Hanjie had been busy with paperwork, pausing every once in awhile to put together a bunch of signed documents for Yao, who was waiting nearby, to carry out.
“Dan Hanjie, why can’t I go back to the company? Why can’t I even go home?”
