Chapter 208: Book 9 Chapter 1-3 Conquest of the Northeast: the Southern Campaign

The skies above Tokyo, Japan
Major Choi Young-ho’s Black Moon squadron under the 38th fighter wing’s 111th flight wing was on its 3rd sortie. This time, the mission was to escort the CBS/A-30P blue dragon bombers being deployed from the 19th fighter wing.
The escorting mission was easier than expected. The Apollo reconnaissance satellite and the early warning system planes would detect the enemy planes with their C-HOKULLA MCS-01 radars for them. All they had to do was launch their long-ranged S-AAM-500 Cobra missiles or mid-ranged S-AAM-200 Rattlesnake missiles to take down the enemy. This was possible thanks to Corea taking the aerial superiority and using every available resource such as the early warning radar systems.
At times, the anti-air artillery forces in hiding would attack with their surface-to-air missiles, but whenever they did, the KF/A-25P Black Phoenix bombers would take them out immediately.
The 1st escorting fleet, that was also responsible for protecting Tokyo’s skies, was suddenly attacked by the 11th mobile Hocula submarine force’s torpedoes. This had created an opening within Tokyo’s anti-air net. The eight CBS/A-30P Blue Dragon bombers that had infiltrated the area at the promised time, all began to drop their payloads without worrying about being attacked by the enemy.
Woosh. Woosh.
Throughout downtown Tokyo, the sirens began to ring. From the northwestern sky, black dots began to fall at frightening speeds past the white clouds and started to cover the skies above Tokyo.
Each Blue Dragon bomber had dropped 100 rounds of explosives and turned Tokyo into a living hell. The Ministry of Defense building located at Shinjuku Ichigaya Honmuracho was hit by dozens of the explosives causing pillars of flames to rise.
A few of the explosives fell on the roads and buildings near the ministry building and filled the surrounding area with the smell of gunpowder. The entire area was in chaos from the pieces of the building flying around.
The corporation buildings designed to withstand an 8th-degree earthquake had all fallen from the explosion and covered the entire Shinjuku area with a cloud of dust. Within the dust cloud, numerous flashes of light and smaller explosions occurred.
Among the explosion, the buildings of Tokyo UFJ bank, Mitsubishi corporation, and its branch company Mitsubishi heavy industries, were destroyed. These buildings of the three largest corporations within Japan had only its steel beams remaining after collapsing.
Lastly, the underground bunker Prime Minister Abe left from was hit by the C-PAB (plasma cluster bomb) rounds dropped by the Blue Dragon bombers. Only a large hole in the dirt was left where it once stood. Large explosions continued to ring across the city of Tokyo with a population of 13 million, and the flames burned down the surrounding areas. The citizens who could not make it to the evacuation centers were caught up in the flames, causing the casualties to rapidly rise.

Seoul, Yongsan-ku, B2 bunker (ROK military joint command center)
“Mr. President, sir! The aerial raids on Tokyo began 10 minutes ago.”
President Suh Hyun-woo had visited the Joint Chief of Staff’s command center early in the morning. A few days ago, when Jeju Island was attacked, President Suh Hyun-woo gave the order to end the war against Japan within 10 days. Thus, the plans for operation ‘R J to 1945′ were changed. The size of the attacks and the dates were changed considerably, so the president had decided to visit the underground bunker of the Joint Chief of Staff himself. He wanted to be briefed about the changed strategies of the war and watch how the battle would unfold.
The numerous screens at the command center showed footage of the aerial raids taking place across Japan. Among the footage shown, the scene of Tokyo covered in black and red flames showed up in high definition.
“Please minimize civilian casualties, but continue the attack.”
“Yes, sir. We will do everything we can to avoid civilian casualties.”
“Have Japanese corporations that committed war crimes been included as targets as well?”
“Yes, Mr. President! They have all been included in this attack.”
“I understand.”

The Prime Minister’s Cabinet underground bunker at Adachi prefecture, Tokyo, Japan
The prime minister and his party had just made it out of the emergency situation center in the nick of time. Prime Minister Abe entered the temporary prime minister’s office and attempted to video call President Trump of America.
“Hello, President Trump. I hope you are well?”
“Yes, it seems you have made it out safely. I knew you would because of the reports.”
President Trump was also aware of the fact that the Corean air force was conducting an attack across Japan by using all of their operable military reconnaissance satellites.
“Mr. President! The entire nation of Japan is under attack from Corea’s air force. Not only the U.S military bases in our nation are suffering casualties, but the civilians across Japan are being caught in the crossfire as well. This is clearly an infringement of the conduct of war and must be seen as an unethical act.”
Prime Minister Abe’s words were full of fury.
“I am aware.”
“Then, please do something about Corea instead of just sitting by.”
“Do something about it, you say?”
“Please call the U.N security council and have them sanction Corea for their illegal war activities. Also, didn’t the U.S military bases get damaged as well? This is clearly a threat against America.”
Prime Minister Abe face resembled that of a demon taken over by rage, and he spoke through the microphone while spraying spittle everywhere.
“Prime Minister Abe! Didn’t we conclude from the last U.N security council that the war between Japan and Corea was perfectly legal?”
“Mr. President! Things are different now, is it not?”
Prime Minister Abe was shaking in rage from President Trump’s passive attitude towards his pleas.
“President Trump, sir! I did not want to speak of this.”
When Prime Minister Abe began to speak about topics of the highest confidentiality, President Trump’s face clearly showed his shock.
“How did you…”
“Mr. President! Please think things over carefully. If this was to be made public to the international community, then Japan will not be the only nation to fall.”
“Prime Minister Abe! Please calm down. I will strongly protest against the Corean government. Just give me some time.”
“Please take care of it quickly. If you don’t, the entire nation of Japan could be in ruins.”
“I understand. We will get back in touch soon.”
When the video call was over, President Trump disappeared from the screen. Prime Minister Abe stifled his anger and sank into thought while grasping his forehead.

The deep seas, N 34°33 E 139°31’ at Yokosuka, Kanagawa prefecture, Honshu, Japan (the Yang Se-bong ‘s (SSP-85) location)
“We will not back down. We’re facing them head-on! Arms man! Load launch tubes 1 and 2 with the A-1 decoys!”
“Loading launch tube 1 and 2 with A-1 decoys.”
“We deal with the enemy torpedoes that make it past the decoy by hard kill. Load launch tube 3 to 8 with our Great White A torpedoes.”
Meanwhile, the Mark 46 anti-submarine torpedoes launched from the Japanese anti-submarine choppers sped towards the Yang Se-bong at 40 knots.
“Loading complete for the A-1 decoys.”
“Fire the decoys.”
“Firing the decoys now.”
Since the situation was dire, the crew aboard the battle station all moved as one and responded immediately to the captain’s orders.
Boom~ Boom~
Two A-1 decoys were launched from the submarine via compressed air. Each decoy split into two directions at a 45-degree angle and began to release the sonar patterns of the Yang Se-bong (SSP-85.) Two of the six Mark 46 active acoustic homing anti-submarine torpedoes were fooled by the A-1 decoys and changed their course to follow them.
“Captain! Two enemy torpedoes were fooled by the decoys. The rest of them are headed towards us. Distance at 2100, and 105 seconds before impact.”
“Allot a round of the Great White A torpedo for each the enemy’s.”
“Allotment complete from targets 1 through 4, sir.”
“Open the muzzle doors 3 through 6.”
“Opening the muzzle doors 3 through 6.”
“Launch.”
“Launching Great White torpedoes 3 to 6.”
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The four Great White A torpedoes shot out from the launch tubes and raised its velocity with its plasma thrusters. The torpedoes raised its speed to 500 knots and began to shoot towards the enemy Mark 46 torpedoes.
“All four Great White A torpedoes have been successfully launched! Targets 1 and 2 are 9 seconds away from impact. Targets 3 and 4 are 10 seconds from impact.”
Meanwhile, the 1st escorting fleet’s Kongo (DDG-173) Aegis destroyer launched four type-07 anti-submarine missiles as well. The four torpedoes shot up into the sky from the vertical launchpad and split into groups of two before flying in two directions.
“All enemy torpedoes have been intercepted! All interceptions are successful.”
The sonar operator, who had been listening intently to his headset while grasping them with both of his hands, shouted. The entire battle station cheered. However, a grim report came in straight away.
“Two more enemy torpedoes have been detected. They are type 07 B anti-submarine torpedoes! Distance at 2800! Speed at 55 knots. The torpedo on the lead will reach us in 102 seconds.”
The type 07 anti-submarine torpedo was designed after the RUM-139 vertical launch pad ASROC (VLA) by the Japanese Ministry of National Defense. It was placed in the field for the Japanese navy in 2009. Through continued development, the range and speed of the type 07 B torpedo had been improved significantly.
“They won’t give us a moment of peace! Open launch tubes 7 and 8! We hard kill the enemy torpedoes. Then, reload launch tubes 1 through 4 with the Black Shark torpedoes! Load launch tubes 5 and 6 with the Great White torpedoes.”
Captain Kim Jin-jun, who had received multiple awards in the navy for his tactical performance, continued to give out orders that fit the situation without any hesitation.
“Torpedo 7 and 8’s muzzle doors are open, captain.”
“Fire.”
“Firing torpedo 7 and 8.”
Boom! Boom!

The deep seas, N 34°33 E 139°31’ at Yokosuka, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan (the Lee Un-hyung ‘s (SSP-86) location).
When the Yang Se-bong (SSP-85) commenced its attacks against the 1st escorting fleet’s destroyers, the Lee Un-hyung (SSP-86) began its attack as well. They had managed to successfully sink the 5th escorting fleet’s Ariake (DD-109) and the Akazuki (DD-115). However, the Lee Un-hyung (SSP-86) was also in a dire situation, where they had to hard kill the Mark 46 anti-submarine torpedoes fired by the SH-60K choppers under the 1st fleet, and the type 07 B from the Kongo (DDG-173).
“We have successfully intercepted all eight Mark 46 torpedoes, captain. We failed in intercepting one of the type 07 torpedoes! Distance at 1800 and 68 seconds before impact.”
“We must strike fast and leave the area. Arms man, reload launch tubes 1 through 4 with the Great White A torpedoes! Reload launch tubes 5 to 8 with the Black Shark torpedoes.”
“Reloading launch tubes 1 through 4 with the Great White A torpedoes! We will reload launch tubes 5 through 8 with the Black Shark torpedoes, sir.”
“Enemy torpedo at 1600, 57 seconds before impact.”
“How long will it take for us to reload the torpedoes?”
Captain Oh Hyun asked the arms man in his haste.
“It will take 20 seconds for us, sir. Please wait a moment.”
“All right. We launch torpedo 1 as soon as we finish loading them.”
“Yes, captain.”
Meanwhile, from inland Kanagawa, additional P-3C anti-submarine planes were deployed to search for the Corean submarines that have infiltrated the Yokosuka seas. They began to fly towards the Lee Un-hyung’s (SSP-86) location.
