100,000/Hour Professional Stand-in - Chapter 68.2
Chapter 68.2: Goodbye (2)
“What are you looking at?” Song Shiyu walked over and asked.
“Over there.” Ji Fanyin pointed to the group. “There are many foreigners there. Are they tourists? They look fairly young.”
Song Shiyu looked over too, but his expression stiffened the next instant.
It was impossible for him to overlook Ji Xinxin, given how much she stood out from the group.
Ji Fanyin suppressed the evil smile on her lips and innocently asked, “Shiyu, I have a sudden craving for milk tea. Should we get something from the store on the opposite side?”
Song Shiyu looked at her and asked, “Are you certain?”
“Of course.” Ji Fanyin had even decided on what she wanted. “I want the one with grape pulp.”
Song Shiyu was silent for several seconds before leading her toward the milk tea store.
The shopping mall was shaped in an irregular ellipse. There was a huge empty space in the middle, allowing those on one side to see those on the opposite side.
But again, given the constant huge flow of crowd in the shopping mall, most people wouldn’t bother keeping an eye out on who was in the same space as them.
Ji Fanyin only happened to spot Ji Xinxin because her presence was too conspicuous in the midst of an army of foreign students. Most people would take another look at her out of curiosity.
Unfortunately, Ji Xinxin was too busy translating for the ten or so transfer students around her to pay attention to her surroundings. Even as Ji Fanyin received her iced fruit tea, her group was still chatting at the same spot.
It looks like she didn’t notice us.
The disappointed Ji Fanyin gulped up a mouthful of grape pulp before walking away with Song Shiyu.
…
While Ji Xinxin was taking a cursory glance at her surroundings, she noticed two familiar figures in the mall in her peripheral vision. It drew her attention right away.
Yet, when she turned her gaze over, she didn’t spot anything worthy of note. It was as if her eyes were playing tricks on her.
She fell into a daze.
“Did you see something?” asked the tall Liam, who had been standing by her side all this while like a knight.
Ji Xinxin shook her head uncertainly and replied, “I might be seeing things. I thought I saw a familiar face.”
“Was it over there?” Unexpectedly, Liam pointed in the direction of where she was looking at earlier. “I noticed a woman who resembled you. She was with a man wearing a suit.”
“Resembled me? Did you see her face?” Ji Xinxin’s heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly probed deeper.
“I’m afraid not.” Liam shook his head. “I only paid attention because her back silhouette resembled yours.”
Ji Xinxin bit her lips as she gave this matter some thought. She gestured for the group to wait for a moment before whipping out her phone to dial a number.
Based on her current intelligence, she knew for sure that Bai Zhou and Song Shiyu were in contact with Ji Fanyin. She could deduce that much from the video that had gone viral.
Bai Zhou wouldn’t visit a shopping mall dressed in a suit, which meant that the man was likely to be Song Shiyu, assuming that the woman was Ji Fanyin.
I should be able to verify it as long as I drop Song Shiyu a call.
However, the call hung up after several beeps.
Song Shiyu didn’t accept her call.
Ji Xinxin stared at her phone with a frown for several seconds before giving Ji Fanyin’s number a try.
It reflected that the other party was busy and couldn’t come to the call.
This left Ji Xinxin worried.
She was aware that Bai Zhou was likely going to betray her, but she wasn’t able to sound Song Shiyu out because she was busy with work during this period of time.
If even Song Shiyu has decided to defect to Ji Fanyin’s side, how many useful pieces do I have left on my side?
Ji Xinxin quickly calculated the cards she still had in her mind.
My father and mother have tried confronting Ji Fanyin, but they were sent packing.
Bai Zhou hasn’t taken the initiative to contact me after the gaming incident. The culprit behind it, Liam, is still standing ignorantly next to me.
Cen Xiangyang should still be on my side, but he’s not trustworthy.
Li Xiaoxing… That’s right, the most important one right now is Li Xiaoxing!
Ji Xinxin exhaled deeply in relief as she placed Li Xiaoxing on the topmost priority on her list.
With Li Xiaoxing’s societal standing, she would be able to stand her ground against Ji Fanyin as long as he was willing to lend her a helping hand. If really pushed to a corner, she was willing to consider dating or even marrying him in order to secure his support.
If not for his physical disability, Li Xiaoxing would have been her ideal marriage candidate.
