100,000/Hour Professional Stand-in - Chapter 103.2
Chapter 103.2: Be My Friend! (2)
Cheng Lin who was watching the scene unfold from the side with crossed arms: You might as well not explain it.
Doesn’t ‘not here to make fun of you’ imply ‘I am here to piss you off’?
Ji Xinxin smirked. “There must be some hidden agenda for you to visit me. What is it? Are you lacking money again, and here to exploit Xiaoxing?”
Ji Fanyin shook her head. In an extremely truthful and worried tone, she replied, “I already have too much. The four mansions gifted by the Li family is also another source of worry. I still have to engage someone to clean them. It’s so troublesome.”
Cheng Lin quickly covered her mouth. However, it was not before she let out a peal of laughter.
Ji Xinxin glared at Cheng Lin. She roared at Ji Fanyin, “Are you here to show off?”
“No. I am here to see how you’re doing.”
Ji Fanyin babbled on softly, “You should not be so uptight, it will hamper your recovery. Women who have just gone through a miscarriage are often weak, physically and emotionally.”
。
Cheng Lin could finally no longer take it. She broke into a fit of laughter, instantly drawing out Ji Xinxin’s hate for Ji Fanyin.
Grabbing the cup of water on the table beside her, Ji Xinxin threw it on the ground. “Cheng Lin, what are you doing here? To mock me? Where was this ‘chivalry’ of yours when we were in high school?”
Ji Fanyin was picking up the stainless steel cup that had rolled towards her when the conflict between Ji Xinxin and Cheng Lin broke out. All traces of smile were instantly wiped off Cheng Lin’s face.
To break the tension, she walked towards Ji Xinxin and lightly placed the deformed cup on the cabinet beside the bed, all the while under Ji Xinxin’s disbelieving watch.
Ji Xinxin’s nerves were wound up tight. Even the slightest sound of the cup coming into contact with the cabinet top was enough to make her jump and shiver in shock.
“I am telling you the truth. She has already left.”
Ji Fanyin turned to look at her sister. In a slow and steady tone, she iterated, “And I never thought you would still be alive.”
“This is impossible,” Ji Xinxin mumbled under her breath.
“That was what I thought so too.”
Ji Fanyin studied Ji Xinxin’s features. Hesitantly, she stretched out a hand towards her, to which Ji Xinxin cowered away in fear. She squeezed her eyes shut tightly, like a child who was about to receive a beating from their parents.
However, Ji Fanyin merely wanted to stroke her dry and frizzy hair.
Ji Xinxin opened her eyes and stared at Ji Fanyin with wide eyes, as though she was looking at a ghost.
“I’m here because I haven’t seen you in such a long time.”
Ji Fanyin retracted her hand. “Moreover, I felt like it was necessary for me to share the news of my return with you.”
Chills ran down Ji Xinxin’s back.
“I have also reflected on what happened in the past. I was the one who gave you and others the opportunity to harm me. If the same thing happened to that person, those little tricks of yours would never have worked. Therefore, it’s partly my fault… I’ll work hard to improve myself.”
Ji Fanyin paused for a moment. She was still not used to speaking such harsh words to others. She turned her head away and took a deep breath to muster some courage.
“… But, even if you realize your wrongdoings one day, and apologize to me, I’ll still not forgive you.”
